Margaret Jones is
a native of Pembrokeshire. She was brought up in Llanrhian on the north
Pembrokeshire coast and attended St Davids Grammar School before
studying mechanical engineering in Swansea College. She worked as a cartographer
in many places in both England and Wales, then moved back to Pembrokeshie
in order to work with SWALEC and Welsh Water.
Margaret has painted
all of her life, and over the years she has studied with many of the country's
most notable artists.
In 1996 she took up
painting full time, opening her own gallery before joining forces
with Beth Robinson three years later.
In her work, Margaret
enjoys especially painting the Pembrokeshire landscape; revisiting and
capturing the essence of her childhood and teenage ( -and of course her
adulthood!) haunts. As a constant theme through her work she portrays the
multitude of flowers that fill the lanes and cliff tops of north Pembrokeshire.
Margaret has now moved
to the west of the Algarve, in Portugal, and has held her first exhibition
of her paintings of the local scenery and flora and fauna there.
